Sponsoring a Global Challenge!

We are delighted to be sponsoring Trixie Gadd in her bid to sail around the world in 2004 in the "Global Challenge" race. Trixie is seeking to raise £28,000 to enable her to participate in the race and to support the race charity, Save the Children. Peter Delves Associates has recently donated £1200 towards her efforts in addition to helping her deal with sea-sickness and stress.

Trixie says:

"Many of you will have already heard me talk about my experience of this, which I have so far used to amazing effect on seasickness, hay fever, and post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as feeling pretty chilled out even with undergraduate exam board season approaching. It sounds weird, but is very simple to learn, so why not try it? It works even if you're initially a sceptic like me".

"I’ve now been sailing four times since, including a couple of choppy cross-Channel races, and I haven’t been sick at all, or even felt queasy, even when other crew members were laid flat.  Better than that, however, is the fact that I now feel confident about doing jobs below decks which I’d have avoided before.  I’ve been deliberately testing myself on jobs like cooking, particularly on the first day out when I’d have previously been reluctant to leave the deck, and cleaning the bilges (which involves bending upside down with a sponge while the boat crashes from wave to wave), and I plan to take more of an interest in navigation in future. The latter is a big test because you’re staring at a small computer screen whilst all around you is constantly moving without reference to a horizon. So EFT has enabled me to consider all sorts of aspects of sailing which were previously no-go areas, and I’ll hopefully be a much more useful crew member when I set off round the world".
