Hypnosis on the NHS debated

It was good to see a constructive discussion on Breakfast TV about the use of hypnosis for medical purposes. A doctor from the Royal College of Medicine who uses hypnosis outlined how recent research validated the use of hypnosis for some conditions, especially anxiety, pain control and IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).

Also on the sofa was Breakfast regular GP Dr. Rosemary Leonard who was against the idea and appeared very resistant, despite a medical colleague next to her explaining the benefits and that a patient would not need a whole hour each time as even 10 minutes could be enough.

It looks like the medical establishment will take some shifting before they start thinking seriously about how hypnosis could be accommodated, instead of the knee jerk reaction against the idea. However it is good to see that an important body within the NHS, the Royal College of Medicine has produced a report recommending the use of hypnosis.
