How To Be Miserable
02 July 2010
Human beings have a remarkable capacity to make themselves miserable, as witnessed by such events as England's exit from the World Cup. Such responses to events highlight how we can allow external events to affect our emotions and moods. And so we're not just talking about events such as a car accident, redundancy or divorce.

Why independent health practitioners are not getting enough clients
11 December 2009
If you are blaming the recession for a lack of clients, you are putting your attention in the wrong place. The reason you don't have enough clients is nothing to do with the recession. It's to do with your ignorance.
The problem with grief.
30 November 2009
Grief is something that will affect all of us at some time or another and so it is part of life and being human. People will experience it in a variety of ways and much has been written on the subject. Having helped clients for over 20 years I have realised that there some factors involved which are not always addressed in grief counselling and which would be incredibly helpful to thousands of people.
More evidence of using EFT as a sea sickness cure
29 September 2009
Further to my blog post of 24th August about using EFT to successfully cure seasickness, I have just received the following message from someone who trained with me as a practitioner of EFT and is helping others with emotional problems in a professional capacity. This part of her message relates to applying EFT to herself.
Why is it so hard to lose weight?
16 September 2009
Here's the problem. You know what you should eat, but you eat something else. Something with more calories, usually in the form of fat and sugar.
How to influence your own habits (and addictions?)
10 September 2009
There was a report in the news recently about how a businessman had decided to maroon himself on an uninhabited Scottish island in an effort to quit smoking. I do hope he is successful.
Does EFT last? How about a seasickness cure as evidence?
24 August 2009
A technique that provides rapid results can often be treated with sceptisim - rightly! However I wouldn't be using EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) or running EFT training if it were just a quick fix. I'm only interested in approaches that last.

18 August 2009
September is a popular time for gaining new professional skills and from the 25th-27th September we will be hosting the EFT training which is the principal component of Meridian Energy Training. I have been delivering this course for 10 years now - so a celebration will be in order!
Influencing Skills - part of life and work
07 August 2009
I can't say my work isn't varied. I suppose that when you specialise in how people think, feel, behave and change there is a huge range of possibilities. So earlier this week I found myself facilitating a senior management team away day. They wanted to improve their influencing ability with partners and other agencies. Having delivered team building events before, I usually like to have a theme that runs through them, so on this occasion it was influencing.
Don't just 'manage' the anger!
29 July 2009
I sometimes wonder about what people really mean by 'anger management'. The term implies controlling anger that exists rather than preventing it from occurring in the first place. There seems to be a lot of anger around these days and therefore the need for anger management courses, classes or training. However my preference is to work one-to-one with people so that they find themselves no longer affected by the situations that once caused anger or rage.
How do you feel about growing old?
22 July 2009
In a culture when we think it is astonishing that a man can hit a golf ball at the age of 59, it exposes a host of negative beliefs about age. So what? Well our beliefs and expectations have a huge impact on our health. Just ask the medical profession about the placebo effect and you will see the power that the mind has over health.
What is an EFT master?
20 July 2009
Because I have been training people in EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) for ten years I have often been asked about the title 'EFT master'? I just want to clarify this because some people are given the impression that this is a title recognised by Gary Craig (the developer of EFT) which it is not.
How to improve confidence (3/3)
17 July 2009
The previous two posts looked at how prevalent confidence problems are, what we really mean by "not having any confidence" and what the ingredients of it are. In this post I will build on these concepts look at how to overcome confidence problems.
The ingredients of confidence (2/3)
13 July 2009
In my previous post we looked at how prevalent confidence problems are, yet how little people know about how to address such problems. In this post I will describe the ingredients of confidence and improved self-esteem. So here goes.
The problem with confidence (1/3)
08 July 2009
We hear the word confidence used a great deal these days, often when describing a problem with self confidence or low self esteem. One way that lack of confidence can manifest and be measured is in performance such as in sports or the performing arts.
Can you stand the heat?
03 July 2009
I recently helped someone who found it difficult to cope with the hot weather. As she was talking about it I could see her getting all hot and flustered (in a cool room!). This wasn't the main reason that she came to see me but when I indicated that I could help her with it she was very keen, if somewhat skeptical.

Stress sending a third of teachers home sick
13 January 2005
A third of all teachers working in schools in England and Wales took sick leave last year because of job-related stress, a survey has suggested. Those polled blamed their stress levels on excessive workload, lack of support from management and other teachers, a lack of communication and having to deal with abusive and aggressive parents and pupils. The survey was also important in that, because it was based on insurance claims made by schools it showed schools were identifying stress as the main reason for a teacher being off sick, rather than simply being a contributory factor to other ailments. More information on training in stress management skills and managing workplace stress.

Gary Craig, the developer of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) has developed new guidelines for Approved EFT Training Workshops. These are currently being adopted for our EFT training courses and you can view the new course programme for 2005 at Training Calendar
University Stress Levels
20 November 2004
According to a recent study by the Association for University Teachers (AUT), levels of stress in higher education are far in excess of most other professions. Peter Delves Associates have been in the forefront of stress training in the UK since 1990, and have recently developed training programmes for Universities. These include "Managing Workplace Stress" which has received very positive feedback from Coventry University, and "Stress Management with EFT" which was delivered to 150 employees at the University of Warwick. Now a TAT Teacher too!
27 September 2004
I (Peter) have recently undertaken teacher training with Tapas Fleming who created Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT). The technique was originally developed for clearing allergies but is now used much more widely to help engage the healing process for a wide range of problems. As a breast cancer survivor, Tapas also presented a workshop on how she personally used the technique for the emotional aspects of cancer, and she explained how TAT can be of significant help to others. I intend running TAT Practitioner Training for therapists in 2005. Please e-mail if you would like to be kept informed of training opportunities.
