March 20th 2008 Press Release
Phobia Freedom Day
Kenilworth hypnotherapist Peter Delves has designated Thursday 27th March as ‘Phobia Freedom Day’ for people who want to rid themselves of their phobia, in aid of Myton Hospice.
This is a fund-raining event to support Peter’s cycling challenge from Thailand to Cambodia. His aim is to personally raise £3,000 in aid of the local hospice through sponsorship and events like this. Warwick Myton Hospice is currently the only hospice providing in-patient care for the people of Coventry and Warwickshire. The hospice has launched a £5 million appeal to build and run a second hospice in Coventry to provide much needed extra beds within Warwickshire and the City of Coventry.
On the 27th, Peter’s normal fee of £60 per consultation will be donated towards his target of £3000.
Peter says “I will be holding one-to-one consultations throughout the day and helping people to resolve their phobias with an approach called EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques). The unusual techniques involve balancing the subtle energy system in the body, which consequently disperses blocked emotion, negative feelings and irrational fears. The results are often dramatic, leaving people feeling relaxed, even smiling. The techniques bring about lasting change, not just temporary relief and do not involve hypnosis. Also people are not forced to confront their fears during the therapy, though they will want to test things out afterwards .”
EFT originated in the United States and has been described as an emotional form of acupuncture except needles are not used. Instead, the client taps selected energy points with the fingertips while “tuned in” to the problem.
Peter expects to be able to help people resolve simple phobias in the one consultation. Should the phobia be only partially resolved, then clients will be shown how to continue using the technique themselves to achieve full relief.

16th July 2005 Trixie finishes in first place in Global Challenge!
On Saturday Trixie Gadd, who has been sponsored by Peter Delves Associates, completed the Global Challenge Yacht Race in first place.
Not only did Trixie and the rest of the crew win the whole race which started in October 2004, but they also won the final leg, sailing into Portsmouth four minutes ahead of the next boat.
This completes a huge adventure, made somewhat easier by discovering from Peter that EFT could be used as a seasickness cure. Another crew member Tony Summers, had been experiencing very bad seasickness and he asked Peter to work with him in Cape Town, from which point until the finish he was fine. Tony says "You can't believe the difference it makes to the whole enjoyment of sailing. I'm a delighted cynical old Scouser who has seen the light!"
Congratulations to Trixie and all the crew!
More pictures of Trixie and the finish.
More on the Global Challenge website.
13th June 2005 June EFT Training Availability
There are a few places available on the EFT Level 1 Training on Friday 24th June, and also for Level 2 on Saturday/Sunday 25th/26th June.
13th May 2005
It's Trixie's birthday aboard BG Spirit. Trixie is part of the Global Challenge yacht race around the world and is being sponsored by Peter Delves Associates. She enjoyed her birthday (and a cake) on the leg between Cape Town and Boston, where they are currently in 2nd position of the 12 yachts. As a result of learning EFT, Trixie has not had one incident of sea-sickness over the whole race, which started in October and is due to finish in July.
You can follow progress of the race at http://www.globalchallenge2004.com
4th March 2005 Gary Craig visiting the UK
Gary Craig, the developer of EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), is visiting the UK for the first time for a conference on EFT, and will running a workshop entitled Mastering EFT (Featuring Serious Diseases).
The workshop will be on 12th/13th/14th September 2005, and the venue will be the Premier Suite at the de Vere White Hotel which is part of the Reebok Stadium Complex in Greater Manchester.
Details are on the AAMT Website at www.MeridianTherapy.org (Click on Conferences in the top menu) and updates will also be posted there. Please note that this is a different organisation to the AMT.
It is expected that this conference will fill very quickly, so if you are keen to attend, book a.s.a.p.
14th February 2005 1st Place in Global Challenge Yacht Race!
Trixie Gadd and her co-crew aboard BG Spirit took 1st place on the leg from Wellington to Sydney. In a dramatic final few hours they crossed the finish line in front of Sydney Opera House just 15 minutes ahead of the second boat. Trixie is being sponsored by Peter Delves Associates and was taught EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), enabling her to overcome seasickness. BG Spirit is now in overall 1st place, and their next leg is the toughest, through the Southern Ocean to Cape Town.
24th January 2005 EFT used to relieve "blood clumping"
There is a remarkable account of how EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) has been used to influence blood cells at http://www.emofree.com/Research/rouleaux.htm
13th January 2005 Stress sending a third of teachers home sick
A third of all teachers working in schools in England and Wales took sick leave last year because of job-related stress, a survey has suggested. Those polled blamed their stress levels on excessive workload, lack of support from management and other teachers, a lack of communication and having to deal with abusive and aggressive parents and pupils. The survey was also important in that, because it was based on insurance claims made by schools it showed schools were identifying stress as the main reason for a teacher being off sick, rather than simply being a contributory factor to other ailments. More information on training in stress management skills and managing workplace stress.
17th December 2004 New EFT Guidelines
Gary Craig, the developer of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) has developed new guidelines for Approved EFT Training Workshops. These are currently being adopted for our EFT training courses and you can view the new course programme for 2005 at Training Calendar
20th November 2004 University Stress Levels
According to a recent study by the Association for University Teachers (AUT), levels of stress in higher education are far in excess of most other professions. Peter Delves Associates have been in the forefront of stress training in the UK since 1990, and have recently developed training programmes for Universities. These include "Managing Workplace Stress" which has received very positive feedback from Coventry University, and "Stress Management with EFT" which was delivered to 150 employees at the University of Warwick. More information on Managing Workplace Stress...
7th October 2004 Start of the Global Challenge
We have just returned from Portsmouth where we had an amazing time witnessing the start of the Global Challenge Yacht Race, where 12 identical boats sail around the world against prevailing winds and currents (i.e. the hard way!). Peter Delves Associates are sponsoring Trixie Gadd who is sailing in BG Spirit (opposite), and the sponsorship included teaching her EFT to cope with the demands before and during the race.
27th September 2004 Now a TAT Teacher too!
I (Peter) have recently undertaken teacher training with Tapas Fleming who created Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT). The technique was originally developed for clearing allergies but is now used much more widely to help engage the healing process for a wide range of problems. As a breast cancer survivor, Tapas also presented a workshop on how she personally used the technique for the emotional aspects of cancer, and she explained how TAT can be of significant help to others. I intend running TAT Practitioner Training for therapists in 2005. Please e-mail if you would like to be kept informed of training opportunities.
2nd July 2004 Managing Workplace Stress for Coventry University

12th May 2004 Open day for Global Challenge competitors
The 12 Global Challenge yachts that in October will begin the race around the world, sailed up the Thames to St. Katherine's Dock in London. An open day was held for friends, family and sponsors. As I am sponsoring Trixie Gadd I took the opportunity to view the boat and meet the crew.
Peter Delves & Trixie Gadd
10th October 2003
Sponsoring a Global Challenge!
We are delighted to be sponsoring Trixie Gadd in her bid to sail around the world in 2004 in the "Global Challenge" race. Trixie is seeking to raise £28,000 to enable her to participate in the race and to support the race charity, Save the Children. Peter Delves Associates has recently donated £1200 towards her efforts in addition to helping her deal with sea-sickness and stress. You can read more on Trixie's progress on her website at:
www.trixiesglobalchallenge.co.uk
Trixie says:
"Many of you will have already heard me talk about my experience of this, which I have so far used to amazing effect on seasickness, hay fever, and post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as feeling pretty chilled out even with undergraduate exam board season approaching. It sounds weird, but is very simple to learn, so why not try it? It works even if you're initially a sceptic like me".
"I’ve now been sailing four times since, including a couple of choppy cross-Channel races, and I haven’t been sick at all, or even felt queasy, even when other crew members were laid flat. Better than that, however, is the fact that I now feel confident about doing jobs below decks which I’d have avoided before. I’ve been deliberately testing myself on jobs like cooking, particularly on the first day out when I’d have previously been reluctant to leave the deck, and cleaning the bilges (which involves bending upside down with a sponge while the boat crashes from wave to wave), and I plan to take more of an interest in navigation in future. The latter is a big test because you’re staring at a small computer screen whilst all around you is constantly moving without reference to a horizon. So EFT has enabled me to consider all sorts of aspects of sailing which were previously no-go areas, and I’ll hopefully be a much more useful crew
member when I set off round the world".
